Well, the time is upon us – the spring and early summer. This is the time of year when many American’s choose to move. This can be a time for a lot of stress and large bills associated with the move – however, there are ways to reduce both!

There is much more to moving an entire home – although cars and trucks are expensive, at least they can be managed more easily than tons of loose items and boxes full of odds and ends. Cobalt Moving Tips

• Over-estimate the amount of packing materials you will need. Whether it is boxes, newspaper, or tape, you’ll commonly be surprised how much of it you will need – always go for too much so that you don’t run out towards the end and have to waste time running out for more packing materials.
• Keep boxes moderately packed. While it may seem nice to get all of those books into one box, think about shipment and unpacking; will it be safe if it is that heavy? How about unloading? Will someone be carrying this heavy box up stairs? Downstairs?
• Label boxes by location and general contents. Boxes don’t always end up where they should, so include a general description of what is in them. This way you won’t have to pop open every box looking for what is in it – you can get everything roughly situated and then open them up. This save time and effort.
• Plan ahead for what to NOT pack. How many days worth of clothes do you need? Will you have access to a washing machine? Will you need certain items for work or other activities? Getting a handle on these types of questions before you move will save a ton of time and stress down the road.
