One of the ways that you can try and save some money when trying to transport your car, truck, or motorcycle, is to plan your shipment so that it happens when fuel costs are lower.
Many trucking companies will take this into account – higher gas prices have an immediate impact on their business! Of course, some of this might be built into the price already – but it doesn’t hurt to try, if you have the time.
Generally, the price of fuel rises in the late spring and through the summer, before falling again in the fall. This means that scheduling your car shipment for the late fall or winter will give you the best chance of a slightly cheaper rate than in the summer.
However, keep in mind that people who move to warmer locations in the cold months will drive up the prices somewhat – this may impact you depending on your destination.
Choose wisely and you can save over ten percent of the transportation cost at the right time of year!
